The foundation is formed to act as the local organization of the Epilepsy foundation of America, a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code of 1986, as amended. More specifically, the foundation will support, promote and raise awareness about the prevention, control and scientific developments in the cure for Epilepsy. The foundation will conduct and participate in public education events to disseminate information and resources to the general public about Epilepsy, as well as conduct community outreach and service programs aimed at raising public awareness and providing a support system to individuals and their families coping with the Epilepsy. The foundation may also engage in lobbying and advocacy activities that promote and support a better life for individuals with Epilepsy. The foundation also plans to support research efforts and development of medical treatments for individuals with Epilepsy. Lastly, the foundation will raise funds to support programs that find a cure for Epilepsy and educate the public about the challenges of living with Epilepsy.
