Cajal Academy's mission is to empower children to optimize their own learning, social and emotional experiences. We do this through three primary activities: 1. We operate a small special education school for children having very high analytical skills, as measured via neuropsychological assessments, coupled with an area of learning, social-emotional, neurophysiological or chronic medical difference; 2. We are developing new general and special education approaches that better align with current neuroscientific research and understandings about how children learn, socialize, develop and grow; and 3. We raise awareness of the needs of twice exceptional children, children with atypical neurological development and other complex learners.
