Pescadero Ides

Our primary function of the Pescadero Ides is to preserve our portuguese heritage and to hold our annual religious celebration of our holy ghost festival. This festival plays an important role for our portuguese culture and community. The holy ghost festival originated and still continues in the portuguese islands of the azores and is widely celebrated throughout the United States (see attached why we celebrate the holy ghost festival. Holy ghost festivals have survived in the United States, especially New England, Massachusetts, rhode island and California. The Pescadero Ides has been celebrating and carrying on this portuguese tradition for over 100 years, 119 to be exact. Some of our members have generations of family that have been involved since its beginning. As part of our annual holy ghost festivities, we provide a parade (sunday only) to the Catholic church and back to our grounds, a free luncheon, on both days, to the public and entertain our community with an auction of dona
