Our 6th year was our biggest year yet with 70 particiants! Participants (GIRLS age 11 - 18) learned to compose, arrange, record, and perform their original music. We taught GIRLS digital literacy skills, theory, ear training, and improvisation, as well as special topics that focused on mental health and gig economy. Our participants this year ranged from incoming 7th graders to recently graduated seniors, and were from 4 different local school districts. All our teaching artists are professional female musicians from Texas, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, see different opportunities, and know that a life in music is attainable as a girl from El Paso. This year GIRLS performed their original music at a public concert to a packed house.
