Breakbread Literacy Project is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to cultivating the voices of young creatives under the age of 25, by teaching writing as a means of self-expression and self-determination, while training youth to envision art as a tool for social change and systemic growth. Since its inception in 2020, Breakbread has focused on four key initiatives: Breakbread Magazine (showcasing creative writing and visual arts, both in print and online), Breakbread Reading Series (community reading series), Breakbread Creative Classroom (creative writing workshops for young people), and Breakbread Literacy Apprentice Program (publishing internships for artists, writers, and editors). All of these programs are provided for free, in order for all eligible participants to gain access.
