Battle of New Market Heights Memorial and Education Association

1. To cause to be designed, built, erected and preserved for all time a historic monument honoring the United States colored troops who fought in the American civil war Battle of New Market Heights, september 29, 1864 at a location which is now in henrico county, 2. To determine the best place or places to situate the monument within henrico county, va to honor the United States colored troops who fought in the Battle of New Market Heights. Currently, the monument is to be situated in four mile creek park, having already received permission to erect the monument at that site from henrico county department of parks and recreation, and 3. To inspire, educate and increase awareness by people across the United States and the world of the bravery, heroism and commitment of the United States colored troops who fought at the Battle of New Market Heights.
