Congressional Communities is working to make it easier for people to connect with- and influence- their member of congress. Currently, Congressional districts have over 750,000 people each, and it is too easy for regular people to get lost in the crowd. So, we broke down each Congressional district into sub-districts of 30,000 to 60,000 people, which we call Congressional Communities, or ccs. These groups are small enough that people can join together at the local CC level to focus on the issues important to them, share expertise and information - including a wide and growing range of information gathered and shared by the central Congressional Communities office - and then use their collective numbers to get direct access to their member of congress. Ccs are not trying to take the place of Congressional districts. They simply provide a way to build a non-partisan network of informed local residents large enough to command the attention of their members of congress.
