To preserve the natural environment, open spaces, historically important land areas, and the structures of the Gist Settlement, a unique and special historic black community and to promote educational activiites about the Gist Settlement, aimed to help promote the preservation aof the land and structures, as well as the oral and written history and traditions related to the Gist Settlement.
