Appalachia Free Press is a nonpartisan organization working to promote and support independent journalism in the region through reporting, research and trainings. AFP promotes and fosters diverse and independent media ownership to increase access to community information and reinvent local journalism. We prioritize collaborations between newsrooms, independent media makers and the communities they serve to challenge traditional industry gatekeepers and serve the public interest.
