The Center for Working-Class Politics CWCP is a nonpartisan research and educational organization formed to study and advance public understanding of the political representation of Working-Class Americans. CWCP was established in response to a sustained decline in Working-Class participation in and representation by the countrys political institutions,a trend with significant consequences for the health of American democracy and the responsiveness of public policy to the needs of working people. Our exempt purpose is educational and scientific: we conduct original empirical research on the attitudes preferences and voting behavior of Working-Class voters; on the conditions under which candidates from Working-Class backgrounds run for and win public office; and on the effectiveness of different forms of political messaging in reaching Working-Class audiences.
