With the donation of a three-hundred-year-old Sawmill property and the land surrounding it, Friends of the NORTH Leverett Sawmill has been formed for charitable purposes to restore, create and maintain a living history and technology museum. While the site has not yet been renovated and the museum has not yet commenced operation, upon commencement it will educate the public about eighteenth to twenty-first century industrial New England while providing recreation that highlights the ecology and industrial past of Western Massachusetts. Through workshops, displays and art that reflect Leverett's and surrounding environs' history, the museum will advance education and science. The above activities will be conducted at the site of the old NORTH Leverett Sawmill and will constitute 100% of the organization's time, effort and expenditures. Funding will be primarily from donations and grant funding the organization plans to seek.
