Under the therapy with dogs program, the foundation (1) recruits and trains teams of dogs and their owners and (2) schedules regular, frequent visits with the trained therapy dogs and individuals and groups in need of love and comfort. The foundation's intended audience includes children at schools or hospitals and the elderly in the hospital or living at nursing homes. The program uses certified and registered therapy dogs that are trained to interact with children and the elderly. The therapy with dogs program provides a positive therapeutic benefit to such individuals, lifting their spirits through playful interaction with the therapy dogs. These dog therapy sessions are provided at no fee to the individuals treated or to the schools, hospitals or nursing homes in which the individuals stay. There is currently one dog being trained for these purposes and one that is fully equipped for therapy visits.
