The Captain Joseph House foundation provides a continuum of care for the families of the fallen (known as gold star families) in honor and memory of Captain Joseph william schultz, army special forces, who died in wardak province, afghanistan. The foundation provides an expense paid respite on the olympic peninsula for families from all branches of the military, from throughout the country and from a post 9/11 loss. Families qualify to participate if their fallen member was killed in action (kia), died as a direct result of unhealed injuries sustained while in combat, or died as a result of a combat Ptsd self inflicted/suicide event. Eligibility is limited to immediate family members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. If there is no immediate family, a non-family member may be permitted to attend and support the gold star family member. A scholarship fund will be created and administered to provide additional revenue for those sons and daughters of the fallen who wish to persue post
