Reinvesting the inherent value of historic used building materials back into the well-being of our local communities preserving the built environments Architectural and lived histories and reviving traditional crafts and skills that build healthier relationships between people places and the planet We accomplish this by deconstructing historic buildings slated for demolition diverting building materials away from the landfill into reuse instead Deconstruction is the careful disassembly of a building by hand an alternative to machine-led demolition that releases environmental toxins into our neighborhoods and creates unnecessary waste in our landfills By systematically deconstructing a building in the reverse order in which it was constructed we also document and preserve local history and trade craft skills Our mission includes education of the general public in traditional trades and skills to support local resilience efficient use of resources and environmental health
