The purpose of The Compact Institute of Ideas is to support exceptional journalism, as exemplified by Compact, and to conduct related public educational programs, such as training, mentorship, and sponsoring of journalists and public intellectuals, the production of rigorous, public-minded investigative reporting, the organization of annual or other periodic educational and enrichment programs, conferences and colloquia and the promotion of scholarship regarding the same.
