The LA County Library foundation was established in 1982 to raise funds from foundations, corporations and individuals to support its mission of enhancing the quality of life in local communities by promoting education, self-development and life-long learning through its support of LA County Library. Over the past 40 years, the foundation has helped fund a range of Library programs and services, stepping in to supplement Library resources for children, teens, and adults. As the Library has expanded its traditional role and resources to meet today's crucial needs, offering free access - to learning, a safe place, the internet, social services, and more - the foundation has likewise expanded its role. The foundation endeavors to provide financial support and develop strategic partnerships that leverage public funds and help fill the gap between public funding and what Library services cost.
