To protect the rainforest and advance the rights of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. We partner with Indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability, and the preservation of the Amazon Basin's ecological systems. With our strategies and programs in the Amazon region of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, Amazon Watch continued to work directly with Indigenous communities to build local capacity and advance the long-term protection of their lands. In partnership with their communities, non-governmental organizations, concerned shareholders and citizens, we utilized the following strategies: We campaigned to persuade decision-makers in corporations, international financial institutions and governments to respect the rights of Indigenous peoples over decisions that affect their territories. And to rectify past harms, we promoted corporate social and environmental accountability through media exposure and shareholder campaigns.
