Legacy Center STL

The Legacy center (tlc) runs a nonprofit community center committed to ensuring youth, educators, and communities in St. Louis have equitable access, opportunities, and resources to succeed in life. Tlc focuses on the radical re-imagination of the delivery of youth services, educator professional development, and community strengthening. This is accomplished in the following ways: providing an integrated, community based multi-tier system of support for youth that provides a framework of academic, extracurricular, and emotional support. Creating space and collaborating with values aligned organizations that allow us to host diverse individuals and organizations from our community thus facilitating meaningful and purposeful action-oriented gatherings that find systemic solutions for our communities' most pressing challenges. Creating professional learning communities of the best teaching and learning practices to support educators as they prepare to support students for college, career, and life. Running a seven-week summer camp that provides educational and extracurricular activities for students in a community, whose population is predominately black and low income (24:1). Operating an after school program in the 24:1 that serves up to 150 students daily. Providing community engagement events in the 24:1 that have included community cookouts, soccer clinics, eye exams, and youth mentoring sessions.
