Program #1: service dog training - developing a collaboration with the nevada department of corrections ("nv doc") as well as additional correctional institutions in nv and Northern ca, to work with incarcerated persons and staff to train future service dogs, and will provide incarcerated persons with a set of marketable skills to seek gainful employment when they reenter society. Liberty Dogs is also recruiting local individuals and families to volunteer to raise a future service dog under the direct tutelage of its professional staff. These puppy raisers will train, socialize, and expose these dogs to public environments that the future service dog will need to navigate. The program will be conducted in and around reno, nevada and will be expanding to additional regional locations in Southern nv and Northern ca. Liberty Dogs plans to partner with shelters locally and across the nation to acquire adoptable dogs and invest in professional training to prepare them for service work.
